I ordered this book after a recent issue of _Women's Health_ magazine featured a few of the recipes. I tried a few out, and had to order it since they were so good!The book is organized by health category, including topics like Aging in Reverse, Skin Health, All-Day Energy, etc. From there, each chapter gives an overview of the topic, some information about what foods will ease that worry, and then a spotlight feature on a particular superfood. Because of the set-up, it's really like a nutrition primer and cookbook in one.So far I've made a few of the smoothies and bowls and a couple of the soups. The Power Nut Butter Bowl (which I included a photo of) is to die for -- and is the reason I got this! All of them have been so good -- and super quick and easy to make, including the soups. They're all made in a blender, and have really gotten me hooked on smoothie bowls for breakfast. This books leaves no excuses for quick, healthy eating. :-)As mentioned in my review title, about 90% of the recipes are vegan/plant-based. There are a few that call for cheese, but you can either leave it out or use vegan shreds. There is also one recipe for a bone marrow soup.Although I already own three or four smoothie cookbooks, the unique recipes, beautiful photos, and inclusion of the soup recipes make this one cookbook that is already getting a lot of use in our kitchen.

Usually I buy books like this and realize that there really is nothing I would actually use. Let's face it with Pinterest and easy access to all kinds of smoothie and soup recipes why buy this book. Well, it's full of easy adaptable recipes and since purchasing I have used this every week to make a different soup for my lunch at work. I make it on Sunday and enjoy all week or freeze an individual portion or two for the next week. Super easy and full of useful information! It is on my kitchen counter for easy access! Since purchasing I have upped my intake of veggies and fruits!

I love all the ideas for healthy smoothies. I tend to get stuck with a couple standard recipes. This has broadened my horizons!

This book has some interesting details, but it appears that it is filled with "side bars" that show up in the e-book texts as unexpected interruptions in the narrative. The author also suggests looking up particular sections, going back to read cover-to-cover if you're interested in the background of a particular section. As simple as that might be to do with a printed text, it is very difficult to do with an e-book, "bookmarks" notwithstanding. In other words, I would recommend that the seriously interested reader buy a print version rather than an electronic one.

Seriously - the amount of research that went into this book is astounding. Ever had a question about how a particular style came about and how it's made? Where which beers are popular and how to toast them in their respective countries? What foods to pair with which beer? The ABV content of your favorite ale and how it compares to others of the same style? I guarantee you'll find the answers to these and any other beer related question you can think of somewhere in this book's hefty 644 pages. This book really blew me away with just how much information is contained within it. Whether you're a seasoned beer snob or just an aspiring one, I think you'll be super impressed with this book.

What a fabulous book! I got this for my husband who works in the beer industry and he just loves it. Whether you work in the industry or are just a beer fan you will get such use out of this book! Also, Amazon has this priced at about 25% less than any store I looked for it in!

Jeff Alworth applies his 15 years beer writing experience to providing an essential handbook for beer lovers. He divides the book into 6 parts. The first covers the history of beer, how it is made and how to taste it. The next four parts cover beer styles and the final part covers the enjoyment of beer. The tasting chapter in the first part is especially good, providing the beer drinker some important tools to build on. His groupings and breakdowns of styles and sub-styles are not as extensive as some but they make sense for the beer drinker. He groups styles into Ales, Wheat Beers, Lagers, and Tart and Wild Ales. For each sub-style in these categories he describes the style, discusses its origins and how it is made. He also profiles a brewery that makes the particular sub-style and describes 6 beers that exemplify the style. The example beers are generally beers with a fairly large distribution. His flavor descriptors are good and from reading them it is obvious that he has actually had the beer he is describing. The final part on the enjoyment of beer covers serving and storing beer, pairing beer with food, pub behavior and beer tourism. He concludes with nearly 50 pages of appendices with useful information for the beer lover. If you like beer and want to know more about it, buy this book.

As an avid beer drinker I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Its a great read for someone just getting into beer or if you've been a beer drinker for years and are looking to expand your knowledge. The beer bible is broken down into different sections explaining the different styles of beer and giving examples of each type. There also is a section about general knowledge of beer, and information about how to enjoy the perfect glass of beer.

When I bought this, it had no descriptions of anything being wrong with it… When it arrived it had writing on the inside as a dedication to somebody… I contacted the seller and they returned my money, which is one of the reasons why am giving five stars. The book itself has a lot of interesting information… it is a very good book for anyone who loves beer.

Jeff is a friend of mine. I know him to be a fine researcher and writer. What he's done here is put together an excellent overview of beer history, styles and much more. The book is required reading for everyone who wants or needs to know more about the origins of traditional and non-traditional beer styles.. Frankly, I do not care for the way the content is spoon fed to readers in small chunks. But I understand why that approach works with modern readers who typically have short attention spans and are easily distracted.

Just received the book to find that the back page has a large god damn crease across it. I'm giving this as a gift, and it really sucks when you get something that could have been easily caught. I don't have time to return it, otherwise that would be my first option.

I received this book surprisingly fast and I was pleased with the condition of the book as well.The book itself is fairly technical but I would recommend this book to introductory students of philosophy. The arguments, in particular, don't expect the reader to be well-versed in logic, epistemology, or metaphysics. Of course, if familiar with the various disciplines will indubitably assist you in your comprehension of the book.Overall, this book adequately develops the concept of religious epistemology when attaining knowledge of God's exists. Enlightening and well-written I would propose as well. Good treatment of the debate.-RD

I ordered this book on a whim and am surprised that no one has reviewed it yet. I will do a more detailed review later, but have some review points for an interested reader:1. The main point of the book, that God does reveal himself to the world, but not on our terms, is salient. Sounds God-worthy. God exhibits His existence in a life submitted to him. We, morally committed to Christ's purposes, are the evidence to the world (and to ourselves)of God's existence. He builds on this point and gives the core idea a lot of substance. Well worth reading.2. Why four stars and not five? Frankly, Moser is an academian and writes like one. His sentence structures are too long and complex. I sometimes find myself re-reading a sentence many times to figure out what he's saying. The only reason I am working thru this book (about 2/3rds done) is because the content is rewarding and may in the final analysis be correct!3. This book creates a path that seems viable. The naturalists want the Christian world to confront them on their terms. When Christians debate atheists to provide objective truth for God's existence, they always get smeared. It's embarrasssing to watch the gyrations that Christians go through to prove God from a worldly aspect. This book provides an alternative viewpoint that respects God, respects our responsibility toward God, and works out faith in a realistic fashion.I'd like to hear the take of others on Moser's work. I find it a relief from the worn out apologetics found in popular Christian books. Ken

Paul K. Moser (Professor & Chairperson Dept. of Philosophy: Loyola University, Chicago) relates epistemic issues to the evidence for the existence of God with masterly skill in "The Evidence for God: Religious Knowledge Reexamined." Moser, author of "The Elusive God," paints a far more textured picture of epistemology's crucial role in determining genuine evidence for the existence of the Christian God than the majority of contemporary apologists.Along the way Professor Moser attempts to deflate various arguments for theism that play down the ontic majesty of the true and living God. Additionally he cogently refutes naturalism with precision and care (pp. 46-84). His persuasive and inexpugnable contestations refuting sundry schools of naturalism alone make this volume worth purchasing. Professor Moser also convincingly discredits fideism as he provides the reader with a thoughtful case against blind faith.The book "develops volitional theism against the background that includes critical assessment of prominent competing positions" (Naturalism, Fideism, Traditional Proofs, Plantinga's epistemology - p. 45).The book's claims are launched with an erudite quote from H.H. Farmer: "Many questions are answered wrongly, not because the evidence is contradictory or inadequate, but because the mind through its fundamental dispositions and presuppositions is out of focus with the only kind of evidence which is really available" (p. 1).Moser controverts numerous forms of Naturalism including:- Quine's (p. 68-70)- Ontological Naturalisma. Eliminative ontological naturalismb. Noneliminative reductive ontological naturalismc. Noneliminative nonreductive ontological naturalism- Methodological naturalism in three dominant forms.All this within the context of a refutation of Scientism (pp. 76-87) while he opposes the empirical attempt to prove the existence of God (p. 87).The author rejects classical proofs (pp. 142-182) along with historical and evidential methods as systems that prove too little (finite data V. an infinite ontology: the God of Christian Theism), yet he admits to their possible psychological or aesthetic apologetic value (p. 160). The author also denies that Behe's irreducible complexity and ID science are epistemically satisfying approaches (p. 166-167).The often astute professor alogically and unbiblically rejects God's sovereignty in the salvation of souls and the enlightening of minds (pp. 131-142 and misc.). He builds a neurasthenic case for the divine call that results in "nonargument evidence of God's reality" not as "volitionally static" forasmuch as we need to "avoid ... a bias against evidence of the divine reality that comes from the volitional pressure of a transcendent call and the resulting transformation of a willing human recipient who thereby becomes a personifying evidence of God's reality" (p. 150). Nonetheless Moser's previous arguments against traditional proofs (finite, mutable, perishing material things lack the epistemic ability and ontic necessities to prove an infinite, immutable, imperishable God) cuts off the branch he's resting his arguments on: Christians become the "evidence of God's reality in receiving and reflecting God's moral character to others" (p. ix); inasmuch as Christians are also mutable and finite, thus under Moser's epistemic scrutiny, they fail to offer proof for the awesome infinite and immutable God revealed in scripture. The professor's argument provides the grounds that confute his own position.The author claims that the evidence that has epistemically virtuous rights streams from the personal, perfectly loving God who alone deserves our worship and obedience. He maintains that this is the only justifiable evidence because God is elusive and all that is within the cosmos is epistemically diminutive. The seeker should open his heart and find salient evidence for the reality of God in the lives of believers who exhibit the love that they have received from the Lord. I personally haven't met a fellow Christian who lived a life that is morally adequate enough to be proof for the existence of God; furthermore I have not observed the love of a believer that was so impressive as to compel one to believe in God. The only moral source of love that compels saving faith is found in Christ Jesus.Moser offers a formidable case against fideism and mysticism (p. 88-125), but his central allegation against classical & evidential proofs implies that he's one who rejects propositional and evidential proof, so he seems to slide into a type of moderate fideism himself, although he avouches "moderate evidentialism" (p. 135). He advocates the amorphous view that "God's reality is increasingly available and salient to me as I, myself, am increasingly willing to become such evidence--that is evidence of God's reality." This contention is his chief argument for Christian theism (p. 172).One reason Moser contends that God's existence cannot be proved in propositional apologetic terms is: God is epistemically veiled so the lives of believers are the only sufficient evidence that is available, moreover we need to "let God be God" (p. 28). God is concealed since "the reality of the God is knowable firsthand by humans on the basis of salient and conclusive, if elusive, evidence."The author endeavors to rebut the Reformed view of soteriology in relation to apologetic pursuits as he asserts that some "people assume that God would have a magic cognitive bullet in divine self-revelation whereby God guarantees that the divinely offered evidence of God's existence will actually be willingly received by humans. Sometimes this dubious assumption is clothed in talk of `divine sovereignty,' but this approach, in any case, involves a serious mistake" (pp. 33-34). Grade 2-4-Two more picture-book biographies celebrate Mary Anning's bicentennial, recounting her childhood discovery of a complete ichthyosaur and noting her adult career as a self-taught paleontologist. Atkins follows the earlier lead of Catherine Brighton in The Fossil Girl (Millbrook, 1999) and Laurence Anholt in Stone Girl, Bone Girl (Orchard, 1999) as she focuses on the single year in which 11-year-old Anning slowly scraped the sand and stone of the Lyme Regis shore to uncover the huge reptile fossil. Her patience and persistence, are emphasized in a smoothly crafted narrative employing more fictionalized conversation and detail than any of the other books. Dooling's watercolors on textured paper employ a predominantly blue, gray, and brown palette conveying the loneliness of Anning's pursuit in this murky, seaside place. Like Brighton and Anholt, Atkins adds a final author's note commenting on Mary Anning's adult discoveries. Don Brown, in a smaller horizontal volume, omits such a note. His text quickly recounts Anning's childhood discovery of the ichthyosaur, and goes on to sketch a chronological account of the woman's entire life. The tan-and-blue watercolor scenes are less compelling than the bolder work in the other books, though several dramatic episodes punctuate the dangerous terrain in which Anning worked. The emphasis here is on the richness of spirit compensating for economic poverty. Both Stone Girl and Fossil Girl are more strongly realized and appealing works, but Sea Dragon reads well, and Rare Treasure is a competent simple biography. None of the writers reveal their actual sources of information on Anning's life. The tale of a child making such a distinctive discovery is inherently interesting, and the scientist's career is a worthwhile story, too. A nice book with pretty illustrations, and I appreciate books about girls and young women who made fascinating discoveries, to encourage my girls to learn about science. I was a bit disappointed at how simple the writing and basic the information was, I would put the age more at 3-7 years of age, certainly not up to 10 years as recommended.

My 9 year old daughter loved this book- wished it had a little more scientific detail in illustrations to help explain processes over time.

My 7 year old granddaughter enjoys having this book read to her. It is very well written. She is interested in digging up dinosaur bones and this book encourages children to be patient and careful when looking at objects in the environment, especially bones.

Another good version of this important story. My favorite is still the STONE GIRL BONE GIRL: THE STORY OF MARY ANNING.The illustrations in the latter are much more evocative and demonstrate to beautifully the layering of past life in the earth. From this we can really teach how "earth tells the story."

This was a gift for a great niece and she has loved it. Thanks!

This book focuses on the young Mary Anning's painstaking and patient efforts in uncovering a prehistoric reptile fossil by the Lyme Regis shore. My young daughter and I were impressed by the descriptions of Anning's diligent efforts, carried out mostly in solitude. The watercolor illustrations by Michael Dooling paints a rather bleak picture of the landscape which serves to highlight Anning's solitary efforts.Mary Anning was a pioneer of fossil discovery and her perseverance and patience serves as a great role model for young children. Also recommended are The Fossil Girl: Mary Anning's Dinosaur Discovery by Catherine Brighton; Stone Girl Bone Girl: The Story of Mary Anning by Laurence Anholt; and, Rare Treasure: Mary Anning and Her Remarkable Discoveries by Don Brown.

So dense.I purchased this book for an "Ethics in the Information Age" class. I consider myself pretty technologically adept, but I had a very difficult time getting through each chapter of this book. Each page has so much information that needs to be retained, it's almost painful. I appreciated the case studies at the end of the chapters that helped put some of the information into context, but I would have appreciated more of this in the chapters themselves. It was too flatly written for my taste, and I didn't find it interesting to read. Required reading, though, so I made it through. A lot of wonderful information is found here, but accessing and retaining it when you are flooded with billions of bytes of facts is the true test.

The rating is to inform you that I got the book although a few days than expected! Upon a glance, I can say that it would prove helpful for the study that I am conducting on Human Rights, Cyber Social Media and the Security Issue in the Mena Region. I will certainly write a lengthy review upon finishing to read it.

This was a great price on a great book but I returned it because I bought the wrong book for my sons class.
