This is such a great book! Cute, whimsical pictures with flowers and beautiful English gardens.

I like these types of books for adults vs the Intricate pattern or Tangled type books because the don't repeat a pattern ad nauseum. It is a lovely book, but not near as detailed as the Joanna Badsford books" Enchanted Forest: An Inky Quest & Coloring Book" and "Secret Garden". In fact, one of the pictures looks very similar to another I've seen in a Dover Press book of a watercan full of flowers. So if you have as many books as I have you can get an idea of the detail in this one. Lots of white space that I wouldn't use anything but pencil or crayon on.The paper in this book is thick and not as porous as the other two I mentioned, and that is a good thing if you want to work with gels. I did try a few markers on the back pages and got bleed through. This is fine as the images are printed on one side and blank on the other, but if you work the pages IN the book I recommend placing something behind the piece you are working on as there is no guarantee the marker will bleed all the way to the next page.

I can't stop coloring, and I really need to stop and and work on my dissertation. But this coloring book is addicting. What better way to ignore the horrid things about life than to work meticulously to color inside lines, pick perfect color combinations, and take 5-6 hours to finish just one sheet? No better way way. I also work with little kids between ages 4-10 and they too are in love. I highly recommend for anyone who has no time to waste but wants to waste a lot of it anyway.

Nice pages that are less than the standard size of printer paper. The images are nice but seem very small compared to other coloring books.

I love this book! That's really all I have to say about it

Truly wonderful! This title is being compared to The Secret Garden, which I also own, however, I think this book is much better. There is more variety in the pictures and each page is single sided making it fantastic for removing the work. I really like it! If you enjoy coloring for relaxation, then this title is a great choice.

Not bad but I wouldn't repurchase as there are better books. Pages are thin so watercolors, thinner, or markers are out of the question here, unless you put some kind of backing on each page. I've attached a page of one of the undesirable pics just for testing out my FC Polys for review purposes. Background was done using Prisma Premiers blended out with Vaseline. It's a good thing that they don't print back to back because the Vaseline did bleed through but not onto the next page. Others said this book is a version of the secret garden but I beg to differ. It has many pics of its own and some designs could be similar but they are not. It has a variety of many diff things and brings a variety that secret garden does not. However, if they upgraded the pages, the book itself could be better! If you like to find hidden objects then this would be fun but I, personally, don't prefer it. On the back of each page, there is a list of the hidden objects at the bottom BUT some nimrod printed it backwards LOL so you'd have to look at it through a mirror to figure out what it says if you don't have the gift to read backwards.

I ordered this book because I thought I would like the variety of design styles, but on closer inspection I've decided to return the book. For the price I can get several other adult coloring books which are much better quality.1) The designs appear to be taken from many different sources, which were then edited with Photoshop or a drawing program. Elements from very different drawing styles have been combined onto one page, creating images which clash stylistically. Also, to make the "scavenger hunt" it appears that tiny drawings of bugs, elves, cats, etc. have been dropped into the drawings without regard to scale or style consistancy.2) The book is not made well. The copy I received has misaligned pages, so that the top border on each page is 1/16", and the bottom border is 7/16". The border next to the binding is about 3/8" and it looks like it would be difficult to color the left side of a page unless it's removed from the book. Since it's bound like a regular paperback, removing a page without damaging it would be tricky.All in all, not good quality and not a good value.

Very well written book that is approachable to non-scientists even as it discusses such complex topics as evolutionary biology and paleoanthropology. The author raises very interesting points about the potential for evolutionary change as a result of modern technology varying from C sections and IVF to the rise of online dating. As genome mapping and analysis continue to progress, it should provide for further topics that I hope Mr. Solomon will explore in future books. Recommended for non-scientists and scientists alike.

One you get past the first chapter its a really interesting book looking at the current state of evolutionary research. Fascinating

A but dry at times but thoughtful and informative.

I thoroughly enjoyed Future Humans. It's science, well annotated and attributed, yet it's not so academic to be out of reach. The author freely introduces terms you won't use in daily life (unless maybe you are an evolutionary biologist) but I never felt bog down or turned off by terminology. I learned a lot about how DNA really works and especially found interesting the sections on bacteria and diseases. And, this is not a tome; I was able to read it in a few sittings.

This book is beautifully written and brilliantly executed. Solomon's sense of story, the way he weaves the personal into the scholarly, and his ability to depict the discovery process as an enthralling narrative all do a great service for science.

not a bad book to read..but neither has anything new..Microbiome (Blaser), Evolutionary process (Jared Diamond)...DNA mutations etc...are mentioned from other expertises as well..it is a good book for beginners to learn about ourselves...interesting questions that the author has raised: where are we heading? mutation? planetary colonization>>mutations? volcanic disruptions and meteors that kill off humans?

I loved this book. My major complaint is that it is too short. It’s not that author Scott Solomon didn’t include enough information. He covered the subject of how humans have and will continue to evolve thoroughly. It’s not that his discussions were sketchy. They weren’t – Solomon used enough detail that I could follow everything he wrote. The book was too short because Solomon writes so clearly and pleasantly, I wanted the book to go on. He incorporates enough science to be clear but not too much that the book becomes ponderous. He uses personal anecdotes and writes with a good sense of humor. However Solomon does not describe what the future human will be like. He discusses ways that we could evolve and the factors involved in our evolution, but actually describing what we will evolve into is best left to science fiction writers. I strongly recommend this book.Disclosure: I received this book free via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

In a light-hearted vain this book accurately depicts what went on during this time period in history. The "handy hints" also add to the historical significance of the time period. I enjoy all of the You Wouldn't Want to Be.....series because the children will read the books because of their "comic format" and gain the information they need about the time period.

My middle school students love to browse through the books in this series in much the same way they browse through the Guinness World Book of Records. The format of these books makes them especially appealing to my reluctant readers. While certainly not a complete or scholarly overview, these books are great jump-off points and interest generators.

A fun read for the students to learn about the "fun" facts of this point in history.

It was a great deal of fun to read,as are the other books in this series.

This book is so fun and great quick reference for students! I'm currently using it in my high school classroom and the kids think it is hilarious!

Was fun to read right before we visited Salem, MA!!! And now it's making me write more words so I can post this review....that's silly!!!!

Jose and his brothers cause a huge bounty of pumpkins to grow in the town by accident, but have the great moral character to help the townspeople harvest without seeking praise. Wonderful story and vibrant illustrations!

I started reading this book around February and I was done by the middle of July.It certainly got me engaged in the subject to a point that, the highlight of my week was doing CalculusI began with doing some sparse notes on the first chapters and progressively I improved and structured my notes to even doing the graphs and summarizing the concepts on my on words with a full sequence of the derivations and equations to solve the exercisesI did it as a way to explain to my self the concepts the author was sharing since I am doing it on my own.and on my own pace, with no regard or consideration about tests or examinations. It was purely for myself.To my surprise I discovered that I was enjoying this book. very much. It was very satisfying to share on the vision, on the thoughts and on the conclusions from the authorand math took a new dimension, a dimension beyond the symbols and the equations, It became aliveas a language that was relating to me a story much clear and structured of the things around me, an ofthe different phenomena and of motion and of time and of constants and initial conditions, of relationsand of rates of change, and of limits and of most of all seeing how could I interpret the equations and how to relatetheorems and concepts, It was talking of intuition and of rigor on math, of geometric constructs and derivations, and of how could I play with the equations and discern the meaning of the results, and how can I go from generalities and simple conditions on to more complex problems in a progressive escalation on the restrictions, and elements at play, around a set of conditions relating to a problem.I could picture Fermat working in his light theory of least time, hundred years earlier and admired his accomplishmentbeautiful in his derivation, Kepler in his wondering of celestial motions of planets, and of course the Newtonian achievementof Calculus from the secant to the tangent the vision of a limit concept expressing instantaneous change and the crowning conceptof anti differentiation from a sum again approaching a limit expressed by the integral it was especially satisfying to reach totriple integration and see how the geometry scaffold and the calculus make such great team on illuminating over the varied physical phenomena that different sciences work on.Now am eager to continue the discoveries on some other books on Mathematics, on Physics, on Electricity and Magnetismon Chemistry and even my goal Quantum Mechanics, It seems like this book helped me to awaken in methe interest on observing and analyzing a set of conditions and correlate them to mathematical termshaving the confidence to try, to err and to try again, to play with the math, to have fun with the equations and to challengethe results, the approach, the concepts.After all mathematical constructs are just that, an expression of our perceived reality, and of our resourcesand of our limitations, It is a mind endeavor, even a mind game, if you will that comes alive in the equations and through theeffort and persistence of so many minds bent on pushing ahead the boundaries of math and science..It certainly was fun doing this Calculus bookThanks Mr Klinewhere ever you are Thank you very much.

Having inferiority complexity, I always want to understand lots of mathematics better, especially on Calculus. I bought several books on this topic, but because of short of my free time to study, I couldn't advanced in my calculus skill. In my country, basic calculus is for high-school students. It has some merits compared to other countries whose students learn the calculus on their college life, but has a serious defect; making the student lose the interest to mathematics due to the scoring policy. Thus, I know how to solve/simplify complex equation, how to solve differentiation, and so on, but never fully understood the meaning of them.Reading this book (I admit, that I just finished to read Chapter 7), brought me the enlightenment of the differentiation and integration, especially the concept of calculus, not just how to solve them. I know other great books on calculus especially for the students. However, being a person who has limited time to study, this book shines above all. (Even for non-English speakers like me.)There is one minor defect I think, like many mathematics books, it refers to other section and figures in a different pages a lot. Thus it prevent me from reading smoothly sometimes. Most of equations are rendered as images with reasonable size and resolution, so it does not cause problems, although they look somewhat ugly.

***On the BookI already have taken basic calculus courses not that long ago, so I used this book more for reviewing and "honing" purposes, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. The author details many derivations that were skipped in my calculus courses, for example the derivatives and integrals of inverse trig functions, the formulas of which us clueless students were forced to memorize. After reading this book, never again would I have to futilely batter my brain cells in the frantic search for a formula I was not able to retain - this is the best quality about the book. Ordinarily, students would be taught math (or any other subject) in a way that would induce them to score well on tests. This technique is shallow and often cuts corners, as some steps are left out for fear that it may confuse the test-taker, who inevitably takes his test unthinkingly.Kline's [the author] teaching philosophy is different. He sets out everything in detail and with clarity, so that the student may himself solve problems without resorting to formulas or hoping that test problems would not differ from the drills he has solved. Furthermore, the practice problems in this book are engaging, and Kline has take great pains to show how every mathematical technique can be used in real life. Some of his practice problems also asks that the student prove some thing or other (it is not all application), and this allows the principle to further sink in the brain.A solutions manual is not included in the book, but may be requested, for free, from Dover. The details of how to do this is described in one of the front pages where the copyright information is found. The solutions manual could also be found in Dover's website. It is in pdf form and is something like 250 pages.The solutions in the solution's manual do not merely list the correct answers. It also describes how to get to that answer. There are some typos, so there may be moments when no answer of yours would be correct now matter how and how many times you get at it. I do not believe the typos are anything major, since it can be obvious when something is a typo. Besides these atypical moments, the solutions manual could be regarded as having the infallibility of God, and with inducing the same soul-enriching effects.Some people may complain about the wordiness of this book, but the "wordiness," in my opinion, aids in the understanding: it is a blow-by-blow description of the proofs and model problems. It could be skipped; I mostly don't.I highly recommend this book.***On Amazon:I have already bought a book from Amazon before, purportedly new, but when I received it, its spine was wrinkled, a fabrication error I suppose. It was also evident from a number of other minor damages that Amazon does not take good care of the books in its store. The book was far worse-looking than many of the used books I bought from outside sellers. Now, I bought another book from Amazon, this one, and it was no surprise that it was worn-looking and evidently manhandled by whoever was in charge of Amazon storage. I was willing to overlook that, what I can't abide by is the stains I found on pages 347-351, and goodness knows how many more stains and surprises lie in wait. Is Amazon trying to pass off used books as new? I am sick of how Amazon handles its products.

I really like this series of books but, enough is enough!! I feel this author is disrespecting her readers. Anytime you have to start your books with a message defending the length in actual print as opposed to e-reader length there is a problem. I would have happily paid ten dollars per book for a 2 book story about this couple. I was feeling cheated and unappreciated by book 6. I am now caught up in the characters and want to know how their story ends. I will never get caught up in a never ending short booked story line by this author again!! Shame on you H.M. Ward!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.I already love this series and the interplay between it and Damaged. It takes talent to write such detailed books that are exclusive to their own series plot and yet play into each other. That being said, this book is a constant twists and turns in this book keep you on edge. You think you know what is coming and it takes you another way. Avery gets stronger with each book and it's quite remarkable seeing as she keeps getting more thrown at her. Her friendship with Mel is sting in this book and it helps Avery gain strength. However, her friendship with Marty seems all over the place. This book takes Avery through an array of emotions very quickly and leaves us like all the other books...dying to have the next book!HM Ward's talented writing sucks you in and leaves you wanting more.

I personally like the mini installments. I have a love-hate relationship with suspense and cliffhangers.I was shocked when Marty was the one to open the door. I had my doubts about him. But he pulled through to be an awesome friend. Avery's plan for Sean is great. I was on edge the entire time to see what happened. I was not expecting the events that played out in this installment. And now I'm left wondering if Marty wasn't the one behind the texting...could he stoop so low? Otherwise, who else knows about Sean and Avery? Oh, wait Henry? So may ways this story can go. I'm excited to see.The characters continue to grow and improve with each book. The story plot thickens and intensifies. There are so many possibilities that could happen. H.M. ward has done a fantastic job with creating this world. I am so in love with Sean and Avery. I want the happy outcome. I want them to have the white Pickett fence. I am so glad I get to be on this journey, story their story unfold.I recommend this series to any erotic romance fan. It will keep you up late at night just to finish the book. Who needs sleep when you got a book by H.M. ward??

I personally have been very invested in the book series but this is getting ridiculous. $27.00 and still nothing more than an hour? Hell going to the movies is cheaper than this and has everything together. It is becoming very predictable. I as a writer would not be charging $3 for a handful of chapters that go nowhere. The author needs to rethink her pricing or give more content. I personally understand why people are going to quit reading. It is not that she is a bad writer; it is bad decisions and lack of content for what we pay. I would love to give her a better review but I can't due to the fact I get 10 VERY short chapters where nothing really happens. Yes it picks up from where the last one left off*****Spoilers******But to have Marty just buy her for the night to give her a night off. She sleeps with him although lying in bed whining about not being able to sleep is stupid. Pick a guy and go for it. She goes to the jewelry store to buy a ring and you think she will only Mel has an issue with the sales girl and they leave only for Mel to go back and buy crap from another salesman.You find out that as predicted Avery broke rules for no reason. She believed Sean bought her for the night but you know after the conversation with Amber that she sexted with someone other than Sean. You just have to wait to find out when she compares numbers. Can she get any stupider?On to the Sean crap. Never does it say Avery bought something until it shows up her telling Mel she is going to go and propose. Although even that she chooses not to propose, spilling her heart but only sort of as she tells him she is not proposing. Sean calls her on her crap. The book ends on yet another cliff hanger and who knows how many more parts you will be left with paying an absorbent amount.I understand she is self-publishing, and getting $0.35 for selling something at $0.99 is not much when you could sell it at $2.99 and get at minimum $1.05 but it is dishearting to read something for really nothing. Kristen Proby another AMAZING author gives us a whole book for $2.99 which is about 80,000 words. Much more than 1 hours' worth of reading. She needs to finish the story and quit with the tiny chapters or change the price she is charging.

I really have enjoyed reading this authors books in the past and while I couldn't really justify the $2.99 per installment for the arrangement the story hooked me and I read the first 7 in the matter of a few short hours. After 8 I was beginning to feel a bit used as a reader and fan. while I knew better, I still purchased 9 just to know what happened next (clearly the authors intention). However, not only was it only 77 pages, it was RIDICULOUS. This new trend of authors selling shorts for a high price is getting old fast and while some may be worth it, the arrangement went downhill fast and the author should be disgusted with herself for rapping her loyal fans.
