Nice book is here! My friend had sold me her instant pot she bought from Amazon. She is not a cook and then was afraid of the "pressure". So happy. A lot of good recipes, especially the soups, but I was looking for the yogurt recipe and while this book states that it is with the "cook book" included with the instant pot, I did not find the recipe, so I shall look for other books. I have cooked for many years with a regular pressure cooker who died of old age, so I can't wait to test the recipes now that it is cool enough to cook. I will have my friend come and taste what she missed by selling me her Instant pot Lovely!

I just purchased this e-book and am hoping to wear it out. I am not new to Indian cooking but new to the Instapot. On my first pass through I got stuck on Healthy Apple and Carrot Soup with Potato. It lists 1/4 cup each apple and potato, an onion and 2 TBSP carrots - with one cup water... unsure how that equals 8-10 servings. Possibly for gerbils. It does seem that the serving size on most recipes are 1/2-1 cup. Am I missing something? Will update star rating if actual testing proves well.

WowooW! This is the perfect book to help you learn about your Instant Pot. It gives you actual temperatures, features, and best of all, shortcuts. Another great feature is he tells you how to convert your slow cooker recipes and other recipes for the Instant Pot. Everything is laid out according to the types of features the Instant Pot has and recipes for them as well. I bought my daughter and my 2 daughters-in-law Instant Pots for Christmas last year. I wish I had known about this book then-I would have bought these books for them also! As a matter of fact, I will do that right now! Thank you very much!

It appears this cookbook was thrown together in a couple of days with no editing or proofing. To be fair, I did not try any recipes from the book. After reading most of it, I did not want to waste my time so I returned the book. From the table of contents, you can see the book was not proofed or edited. The book is full of misspellings, mixed units (some metric some standard), instructions that don't make sense as if steps were left out, strange ingredients (chicken chuck roast) and overall poor layout and editing. I would expect this from a high school student asked to make a cookbook using a word processor, not a professionally written and edited book being sold on Amazon.

Nice! I'm very pleased with this cookbook- I've tried three recipes so far (orange chicken, carnitas, and almond rice pilaf) and all have turned out excellent. The directions are well written and easy to follow. I'd like it if there were more pictures, but I still enjoy perusing the book and reading the recipes. The main reason I bought this book, rather than some of the other Instant Pot cookbooks available, is that this cookbook has recipes for more "ordinary" food. I've noticed a trend with Instant Pot recipes is for exotic dishes with specialty ingredients and unusual flavor combinations. This cookbook does have some trendy recipes but the majority of them are everyday classics. Wow! Amazing!

These are zooming out of my little library of easy to read books. If you've got a horse crazy girl that is ready for easy chapter books these are a good choice. One of my readers just finished this book (which is book 2) over a weekend. She borrowed it on Friday and returned it on Monday looking for more in the series. This is a student that struggles with reading and would ordinarily take much longer to read a book this length. Any book that motivates my students to read is a winner as far as I am concerned!

My 7 yr old daughter absolutely loved this book. It was the first one that she ever picked up and read all on her own, all in one day. She also re-read it and kept telling me, "it's so good!". I really wish there were more titles in this series.

For children who are horse crazy and who are ready for chapter books, this book is a goof transition into chapter books. It is easy to read and will build the child's confidence as a reader. Make sure to ask the child to re-tell you story, just good practice to make sure comprehension is there!

My daughter HATES to read. She has never read any book voluntarily. This is the first book she has ever read on her own start to finish because she liked it! The only problem is there are only two books in the series. Wish there were more!

I bought this book "Silver Pony" for my 9 year old great niece, because she is an avid reader and loves horses.It is a book, that I believe any young girl would enjoy reading.

For the in-between reading phase. A GREAT book that moves into Chapter books with ease. My 6 year old was getting bored by Chapter books because they lacked pictures, this book made her interested again. A great find!

My granddaughter loves horses and enjoys stories about them. She is a second grader and is having fun reading this book by herself. She also enjoyed the first book in this series.

My niece is in love with this book and "Sparkling Jewel"... wish there were more in this little series!

Good novel, perhaps even great, ...with a very poor ending. And I have to say that I've never read another novel where the ending was so bad as to ruin the whole story (okay, ...perhaps " ...almost ruin the whole story."). Perhaps a 3.5 rating if there was such a thing.As much as I enjoyed reading the first part, as I continued to read the remaining 10 percent or so, I kept telling myself to stop reading, to just enjoy what I'd read and let it go at that. I didn't, and that last part just ruined it all for me. Damn!I would also comment that near the end, the sex scenes were excessive for the style and type story, and had almost no place in the narrative. Thankfully there were few such scenes. Implied sex would have been more than enough.The epilogue was good and fit the main storyline quite well. I just wish the author had used it in place of the last 10 percent or so of the story.Patrick

Many in the modern world believe that Muslim females are abused by virtue of the requirement that they wear clothing that totally covers them, while the women who wear the garb insist that they are just honoring their religion and do not feel oppressed. The issue is whether or not these women have been indoctrinated during their childhood so as to believe that doing or not doing things they were taught meant something significant under the religious rules they were taught they had little or no choice but to accept and honor. I mention this as this book has minimal value in its text save for the very clear reinforcement of the argument that religion, when carried to an extreme, indoctrinates and actually denies its followers the utilization of the very self will that, if there is a god, he/she granted them. I found it hard to read the book after about 18% completion at which point I was ready to quit reading as I felt so sorry for the youthful female children of the Jewish family (yes orthodox religious Jews and ultra religious Muslims are very much the same in many respects, and certainly as to how women are treated (mistreated). Perhaps the book has other messages that I missed out of inability to remove from my mind how sorry I felt for Esther, a young girl, who was frustrated in her attempt to draw (she having the talent to draw and paint) and understand why it was that daddy told her that her role in life was not to draw as only god can create, and that her job was to be a wife to whomever he chose for her to marry.So in conclusion reading this book will not enable the reader to justify any form of prejudice or disdain of those who choose to live in accordance with their religion, no matter how silly so much of it may seem in the modern age, but it does make one think about the impact it has upon women and how much of a better world we would have if the women who were indoctrinated as children had the ability to exercise their self will and create, speak up, and engage the world and its occupants, male and female, as they saw fit. The best part of the book, which is well written and easy to read, and is enjoyable as well as educational, was that the woman heroine who was so indoctrinated found her way to real life though love of a man who bought her such pleasure that she simply assumed that her god had delivered him and her artistic talent to her and that enabled her to overcome the restraints organized religion had imposed. The lessen from the book is that we are humans who have emotions, physical needs, and desires that do not always fit together with the stringent often seemingly ridiculous rules imposed by church leaders who contend the rules came not from them but from God, and the sad part is how many people accept that as factual and miss out on lifes pleasures and the freedom that comes from self will if allowed to be exercised.

This book is dedicated to the author's grandmother, "whose genius went untapped." In the author's promotional video, she speculates that if born in a different time or place, the real Esther would have lived an unconventional, bohemian creative life. This story begins almost in what feels like the stone age -- bare unwashed feet, superstitious imprecations, women as chattel -- and ends in the modern world of 1968.I also have a Grandmother of the same generation, about whom we always said "What if?", who chafed at the constricts that kept women in their place a hundred years ago, but who likewise embraced the traditions that gave meaning and structure to family life.What interested me about Esther is how she, to an extent, embraces her chains. She loves the traditions of the Haredi, the prayers, the meals, keeping house, feeding the family. The reader sees she's actually lucky in the match her father made for her - but she doesn't see it that way, even though it was a peaceful marriage by the standards of the time. I was surprised at how sensible some of the rules were -- how many Catholic wives would have loved to be barred their husbands for a week a month! And the mikvah cleansing bath sounds almost like a spa.I appreciated that this book turned out not to have the stupid wish fulfillment ending I find in so many women's novels. Nor was it a complete downer. It was realistic and resisted the current literary trend of forcing a politically correct sensibility on a grim time. Without anything heavy handed, the creation of the State of Israel is woven into the story, without being the story.For me, this book was moving on many levels.

The struggle of an artist's soul in a restrictive, patriarchal, ultra religious Jewish household leads a young girl to try to follow a traditional path in pre-World War I Jerusalem. The narrative highlights the pulls and pushes from the outside world, in the emerging state of Israel and in romantic Paris in the twenties. The reader follows every brush stroke, each color and texture described, along with the interweaving of characters that impact Esther's life tapestry. I'd love to jump into the story and fill in the years hinted at before the final chapter. Perfect blending of character, historical atmosphere, and suspense.

Without giving too much of the book away, those embedded mental images are associated with new information (in this book it's unwieldy English grammar rules) which links the "new" info with the existing "familiar" mental image.That familial linkage is the key to the instant retrieval of the new information. There are a few other important steps in the process but that's the gist of it. Honestly, it's a unique solution to an age old issue of a faulty memory. I'm convinced that I can use this system to help me remember nearly anything beyond grammar rules.Additionally, the authors provide useful examples and links to free downloadable worksheets to help you cement the new grammar knowledge permanently within your noggin.This system makes memorization fun - it's almost like a mental game.Even if you don't care about learning the difference between past and present perfect verb tenses, get this book - the memory process itself is worth it!

As somebody who writes a lot every day I am amazed how new questions related to grammar pop into my head very often. So I was pleased to find out about this book.The real focus of the book is on memory; specifically memory tips for remembering English grammar rules. As somebody who writes in English regularly I found it interesting to read, while it was also useful for me to consider how I could apply rules to other areas. For example, I speak Spanish, so it was interesting to reflect on the cross over.To give you an insight into the book, early on there is a grammar ‘equation’ that is referred to at various points in the book that I liked. There are also worksheets that accompany the book – again another nice feature.I would recommend this book to people learning the rules of English grammar, learning English, or even a different language. The guidance can be applied to other areas of learning in my view.

I have a friend from Spain who came to North America for the expressed purpose of learning English. She already spoke three other languages but the problem is that most of the jobs she was applying for knowing English well was a real advantage. As she already knew three other languages you would think that mastering English would be easy. Wrong! Although you could understand her her grammar and syntax were always off. As a native English speaker I never really realized it but the rules for speaking English are quite bizarre. To make a long story short this book helped her a lot. Anthony uses the “Memory Palace” technique that makes it easy for anyone to remember the basic grammar rules of English. Although my friend still can’t speak perfect English, she is at least 90% better, and this is the book that did it for her. If you or anyone you know has ever struggled with English I suspect this book and Anthony’s techniques can help you too. Recommended.

I am about 1/3 through and feel I have not learned anything. I may listen more, but cannot imagine it will get any better. Does this really work for anyone? Does anyone get through the whole book? When will I finally learn how these palaces relate to grammar that I need to memorize?

The book bogs down a little in the middle sections of the book.2. Technically I disagree with the notion that evolution always leads to more complexity. Yes on survival but not necessarily on complexity.3. The author has a tendency to cross-market his products a tad much. It may come across as look at me...4. A bit repetitive.5. Sometimes leaves you with more questions than answers but that may not be a bad thing...6. No formal separate bibliography.In summary, overall I enjoyed this book. Regardless of your overall stance on the feasibility of artificial intelligence no one brings it like Ray Kurzweil. His enthusiasm and dedication is admirable. The author provides his basic thesis of how the brain works and a path to achieve true artificial intelligence and all that it implies. Fascinating in parts, bogs down in other sections but ultimately satisfying. A fascinating idea mired in a circuitous narrative. Kinda like having to sort through a hundred boxes of cereal for a single prize that you have to put together yourself. Perfectly fine for people with time on their hands and a fireplace to sit next to on a wintry evening. But I found myself highly impatient as I leafed through page after page looking for his point. I will always buy Ray's books. Make no mistake. He just needs an editor who knows how to sift the chaff. And Ray, if you are reading this, do let the editor do his/her job. Don't get precious about concepts. We're all pretty smart around here. Just make a point and move on.

Very disappointed. The book is about how the mind works, and not AT ALL about "how to create a mind". So if you're into the study of the brain, by all means read this book. But I was expecting something very different given the author's work in AI and given the title of the book, which is misleading.

In this boom Ray puts together how his knowledge of how the brain works helped in developing his technology a lot of us use daily. He deep dives into research done, as well as the why's of how things work. It is interesting to see the predictions he has made and his reason as to why they came true. He is a very smart man and the book for me was a good read. Although at some points I didn't fully understand what was being explained the majority of the book was so interesting it was hard for me to put down.

Wonderful read, very clear. Kurzweil has achieved confidence and articulation since earlier books, which were fantastic but a bit scattered and self-exploring. This was solid thought-provocation right in the kisser, especially his "everything is hierarchical patterns" grand unification theory. This stuff will change ya!Some find his work overly optimistic / simplistic, thinking that reduces his credibility. Nay, the guy has very real acumen - OCR, Dragon Speak, now Google. His is applied science, implementing his hypotheses directly - the proof is in the pudding. Other criticisms are that this book doesn't illuminate AI implementation ("the title makes grand claims"). Well for that you'll need a text book friends, paperback won't cut it. This book is "Start here. History, core theories, inspiration, grand unification". If you're inspired, make "Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach" your next read.

This was a really mind-blowing book. I'm always so impressed by Ray's ability to talk about such obscure things with such clarity and insight. His ability to time things is somewhat miraculous considering the array of potential outcomes and probabilities. This book was one of his best.

This book is ok. Kurzweil spends a lot of time comparing himself and his work directly to Einstein, which was frustrating to read. But, he is definitely brilliant and the book is definitely a good read.
