I ordered this book after a recent issue of _Women's Health_ magazine featured a few of the recipes. I tried a few out, and had to order it since they were so good!The book is organized by health category, including topics like Aging in Reverse, Skin Health, All-Day Energy, etc. From there, each chapter gives an overview of the topic, some information about what foods will ease that worry, and then a spotlight feature on a particular superfood. Because of the set-up, it's really like a nutrition primer and cookbook in one.So far I've made a few of the smoothies and bowls and a couple of the soups. The Power Nut Butter Bowl (which I included a photo of) is to die for -- and is the reason I got this! All of them have been so good -- and super quick and easy to make, including the soups. They're all made in a blender, and have really gotten me hooked on smoothie bowls for breakfast. This books leaves no excuses for quick, healthy eating. :-)As mentioned in my review title, about 90% of the recipes are vegan/plant-based. There are a few that call for cheese, but you can either leave it out or use vegan shreds. There is also one recipe for a bone marrow soup.Although I already own three or four smoothie cookbooks, the unique recipes, beautiful photos, and inclusion of the soup recipes make this one cookbook that is already getting a lot of use in our kitchen.
Usually I buy books like this and realize that there really is nothing I would actually use. Let's face it with Pinterest and easy access to all kinds of smoothie and soup recipes why buy this book. Well, it's full of easy adaptable recipes and since purchasing I have used this every week to make a different soup for my lunch at work. I make it on Sunday and enjoy all week or freeze an individual portion or two for the next week. Super easy and full of useful information! It is on my kitchen counter for easy access! Since purchasing I have upped my intake of veggies and fruits!
I love all the ideas for healthy smoothies. I tend to get stuck with a couple standard recipes. This has broadened my horizons!
